Air Handler Services in Toms River
Certified Installation & Replacement for All Makes & Models
Since 1994, Care Temp, LLC has been the contractor homeowners call when they need HVAC work done right. We hold a New Jersey Master HVACR License and a NJ Home Improvement Contractor license, and every technician on our team is a certified professional trained on the specific equipment they install. For air handler services in Toms River and the surrounding areas, that combination of licensing, tenure, and product training matters from the first call through the final inspection.
The air handler is the indoor component of a central air conditioning or heat pump system. It houses the evaporator coil and blower motor, circulates conditioned air through your ductwork, and works in tandem with your outdoor unit to deliver consistent comfort throughout your home. When it fails or falls short, every room in the house feels it.
Signs Your Air Handler May Need Attention
Not every air handler problem calls for full replacement, but some symptoms signal that your system is overdue for a professional evaluation. Here’s what to watch for.
An air handler that’s mismatched in size or efficiency rating with your outdoor unit will underperform regardless of how well either component was built. Proper system matching is essential for achieving rated efficiency and maintaining manufacturer warranty coverage.
Air Handler Brands We Install
We install and service all makes and models, including Rheem, Carrier, Trane, and many others. Our technicians receive hands-on training on every brand and product we carry, so the person installing your system knows that equipment specifically, not just HVAC in general.
Air handler replacement often raises the question of whether the existing outdoor unit needs to go at the same time. The honest answer depends on the age and condition of both components, refrigerant compatibility, and whether the two units are properly matched for efficiency. A mismatched system won’t perform at its rated level and may not qualify for full manufacturer warranty coverage. Our technicians evaluate the entire system and provide a clear recommendation before any work is scheduled.
Why Choose Care Temp, LLC?
When you’re investing in a new air handler, the contractor you choose matters as much as the equipment.

-
What is an air handler and how is it different from a central air conditioner?
An air handler is the indoor half of a central HVAC system. It houses the blower motor, evaporator coil, and air filter, and it’s responsible for circulating conditioned air through your home’s ductwork. A central air conditioner has two parts: the outdoor condensing unit and the indoor air handler. The air handler doesn’t produce cooling on its own. It works in tandem with the outdoor unit. Heat pump systems use the same indoor air handler for both heating and cooling.
-
How do I know if my air handler needs to be replaced?
Air handlers typically last 15 to 20 years with regular maintenance. Units beyond that range, or those requiring costly repairs, may be more economical to replace. A technician can determine whether the air handler is the source of the problem or whether the issue lies elsewhere in the system.
-
Do I need to replace my outdoor unit when I replace my air handler?
Not always, but it depends on several factors: the age and condition of the outdoor unit, whether the two components are properly matched for efficiency, and refrigerant compatibility. If your existing outdoor unit uses R-22 refrigerant, which is no longer produced or imported into the United States, it may not be compatible with a new air handler designed for current refrigerants. Our technicians evaluate both units and give you a clear recommendation, and we provide a free estimate so you understand the full scope before any commitment is made.
-
Is a permit required for air handler installation in Toms River, NJ?
Yes. In New Jersey, HVAC installation and replacement work requires a mechanical permit issued by your local municipality. Care Temp, LLC pulls all required permits on every job without exception. If another contractor has suggested skipping the permit, that’s a serious red flag.
-
Does Care Temp offer financing for air handler installation?
Yes. We offer financing options for customers who need flexibility when investing in a new system. Contact us at (848) 251-0600 or request a free estimate to get started.

I want to THANK CARE TEMP for helping me during this 115 degree heat wave. I had no AC and my house was 98 degrees. Some community members recommended DK SLEDZAK, BERGE HVAC and CARE TEMP. Care Temp was the ONLY company that answered the phone during the holiday heat wave and sent a tech out that day to fix my AC. Care Temp gained a new customer and it has been 1 week and still no return phone call back from the other companies. THANK YOU CARE TEMP for your help and for caring for us old people!!!! I will dKim Blum

I live in Whiting and I called Care Temp because my AC was not working. I spoke with the office and immediately was given an appointment. Since my ac is old, I didn't want to take any more chances of it not working during the summer time so I asked the tech for a price to replace it. I did call 2 more local companies for a quote but Sledzik never showed up and when I called the office, the lady was rude and told me that I did not have an appointment and when I gave the name of who I spoke to, she told me thMarilyn Sartucci
