Rooftop Unit Services in Toms River
Highly Reliable Installations & Repairs
When a commercial rooftop unit goes down, every hour of downtime costs money. Care Temp, LLC has been handling commercial HVAC rooftop units since 1994, and every technician on our team is a certified, professionally trained specialist working under our New Jersey Master HVACR License. We work on all makes and models, and we back every job with the same no-upsell discipline and permit-pulling practice that commercial accounts across the region have relied on for three decades.
Commercial rooftop units, also called packaged HVAC systems, house all heating and cooling components in a single enclosure mounted on a building’s roof or exterior surface. They connect directly to a forced-air duct system, conditioning air throughout the space without consuming interior mechanical room square footage. For offices, retail spaces, and light commercial buildings, they’re a practical and proven format. Our job is to keep them running.
Commercial Rooftop Unit Services We Provide
Care Temp, LLC covers the full lifecycle of commercial packaged HVAC systems. Whether you’re equipping a new building or replacing a unit that’s reached the end of its service life, we handle the project from estimate through permitted installation.
When an aging system is due for replacement, high-efficiency commercial packaged units can reduce operating costs compared to running outdated equipment, though actual savings depend on usage patterns, building characteristics, and the specific equipment selected.
Why Businesses Choose Care Temp, LLC
Commercial HVAC accounts need a contractor they can trust not to manufacture urgency or recommend unnecessary replacements. That’s the standard we’ve held ourselves to since 1994, and it shows in our record.
P&N Distribution, one of our distribution partners, noted in a published testimonial that across hundreds of heating and air conditioning installations over many years, they hadn’t received a single consumer complaint tied to our work. That’s the standard we bring to every commercial rooftop unit project.
Our technicians receive extensive training on every brand and product we service and install. We don’t send someone to a job who isn’t prepared for the equipment on that roof. And because we give you accurate information rather than steer you toward the highest-ticket option, our assessment of your system reflects its actual condition.

What is a commercial rooftop HVAC unit and how does it work?
A commercial rooftop unit (RTU) is a self-contained, packaged HVAC system that houses all heating and cooling components in a single enclosure mounted on a building’s roof or exterior surface. It connects to a building’s forced-air duct system to distribute conditioned air throughout the space, making it a common choice for retail, office, and light commercial buildings where interior mechanical room space is limited. Most commercial RTUs are available in gas-electric, all-electric, or heat pump configurations depending on the building’s fuel source and efficiency goals.
-
How often should a commercial rooftop unit be serviced?
We recommend changing filters each spring and fall and scheduling at least one professional service visit per year. Buildings with higher occupancy or heavier HVAC loads may benefit from more frequent filter changes and quarterly inspections.
-
Do I need a permit to replace a commercial rooftop HVAC unit in New Jersey?
Yes. Commercial HVAC replacements and installations generally require a mechanical permit under NJ building code, administered at the local municipality level. Care Temp, LLC pulls all required permits for every commercial installation and replacement. If another contractor has suggested skipping that step, we’ll tell you plainly, because working with a licensed contractor who obtains permits protects your business from code violations, failed inspections, and potential liability.
-
How do I know if my commercial rooftop unit needs to be replaced rather than repaired?
Common indicators include a unit older than 15 years, frequent repairs, rising energy costs with no change in usage, uneven temperature distribution, or refrigerant types that are no longer readily available. A qualified technician can assess whether repair or replacement is the more cost-effective path based on age, condition, and repair history. If another company has told you replacement is the only option, Care Temp, LLC offers a free second opinion so you can make an informed decision.

I want to THANK CARE TEMP for helping me during this 115 degree heat wave. I had no AC and my house was 98 degrees. Some community members recommended DK SLEDZAK, BERGE HVAC and CARE TEMP. Care Temp was the ONLY company that answered the phone during the holiday heat wave and sent a tech out that day to fix my AC. Care Temp gained a new customer and it has been 1 week and still no return phone call back from the other companies. THANK YOU CARE TEMP for your help and for caring for us old people!!!! I will dKim Blum

I live in Whiting and I called Care Temp because my AC was not working. I spoke with the office and immediately was given an appointment. Since my ac is old, I didn't want to take any more chances of it not working during the summer time so I asked the tech for a price to replace it. I did call 2 more local companies for a quote but Sledzik never showed up and when I called the office, the lady was rude and told me that I did not have an appointment and when I gave the name of who I spoke to, she told me thMarilyn Sartucci
